2 Truths & a Lie

Tips & strategy
- ›Make your lie believable — if it is obviously fake you score nothing
- ›A good lie is something that could plausibly be true about you
- ›Include one easy truth and one that sounds like it could be a lie
- ›Bold, specific lies are harder to call than vague ones
Frequently asked questions
How does scoring work in 2 Truths and a Lie?
The presenter earns one point for every player who fails to spot the lie. Each voter earns one point for guessing the lie correctly. After everyone has presented once, the highest score wins.
How many players do you need?
3 to 15 players. Every player writes their own statements and takes one turn presenting, so bigger groups simply play longer rounds.
Do other players see my statements while I type them?
No. Everyone writes their two truths and one lie privately on their own phone. Statements are only revealed when it is your turn to present.
What makes a good lie in this game?
Boring, specific lies work best. Dramatic claims attract scrutiny while mundane ones sail through. Add one concrete detail to your lie and phrase one true story as unbelievably as you can.
Can we play remotely?
Yes. The private submission phase actually works better remotely than with paper, since nobody can peek. Talk on your call while the game handles statements, voting, and the reveal.
